FS2004 Issues

  1. No VC [fltsim.1] section missing from aircraft.cfg: Darn, I can't believe I did that. Copy paste the following to the aircraft.cfg as the second section. (or, if you have already installed add-ons, as the last section and increment the fltsim.n number.)

  2. Sounds missing: The door_small_open.wav and door_small_close.wav are missing. Copy these two files from the C172/sound folder to the Spartan/sound folder.
  3. Possible Incorrect Textures in Early Repaints: If you downloaded repaints with a full set of textures, one texture has changed and one has been added. Open the Spartan/texture.urs folder. Copy yoke.bmp and wheel_t.bmp then paste them to any add-on texture folders you have added. This adds the reference card to the VC yoke and adds a wheel texture for the updated wheels in the model. (The other "wheels_t.bmp" is for the No VC model.)
  4. Brighter Gauge Backlighting at Night: Some have asked to brighten the gauges at night. Download this vc01_L.bmp, unzip and add to all your texture folders. Okay to overwrite.
  5. Wingtip Shading Anomaly: Overlooked this smoothing error on the original texture but is obvious on the bare metal ones. Download a corrected VC model here. Simply unzip and copy the spartan7w.mdl file to your spartan/model.vc folder. Backup your original first.

  6. Nav Lights too Dim: Many users prefer brighter nav lights. Add the following to the Lights Section in the aircraft.cfg.

light.6 = 3, 1.13, -19.61, 0.3,fx_navredm,

light.7 = 3, 1.13, 19.61, 0.3,fx_navgrem,

Thanks to the guys at Avsim and the Old Hangar for helping out on this.

7. No Beacon Light or Cowl Flaps: The Spartan apparently had no Beacon or Cowl Flaps based on all our pictures and reference data.
