The A-26B Invader FAQ's

by Members of SimOuthouse

Freeware for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004

  1. Will this package run in FSX? Yes, if you convert it and remove the engine start gauge from the panel folder.
  2. How about FS2002? There will be a modified package available at SOH soon for FS2002. Some conversion may be necessary early on but members will be working on it … also CFS2 I think.
  3. Will there be DXT3 textures available for my low-end computer? Yes, check the Add-Ons downloads at SOH.
  4. The VC is dark during the day? What can I do? Turn on the cabin lights, right-most red switch cover on the panel.
  5. Where's the yoke? Press the slash or / key.
  6. The gauges are too dark at night. Can I brighten them? Yes, turn on the Instrumentation lights and use the dimmer above to crank up the night gauge backlighting.
  7. The optional engine start gauge … what does it do? It controls the engine crank speed, passes 9 blades and fires the engine, then starts the other side the same way. Here's more info:
  8. Optional FS9 Engine Start Gauge Notes:

The included optional A26_engine_start.gau from D. Dawson has been

modified so the engines can be started using the overhead panel.

Speaking of which, that is a two step process. First engage the desired

engine, then click and hold the starter switch for that engine.

To activate the engine start gauge, remove the // from window00 gauge 31

and ensure you have the latest FSUIPC installed (3.74, as of April 2,

    2007,) available here:

    http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html

Version 3.7 is the earliest version which the starter gauge will work with.

The engine start gauge can be engaged in spot view either by pressing

<Ctrl><e> to automatically start both engines in sequence, or by

following the standard keyboard commands to start the engines individually.

Regarding compatibility, the startup gauge will only work with FS9. It

will not work with FSX or with FS2002. See the full notes in the Doc folder.

  9. How do I fly this thing? Press F10

PROBLEMS

  1. If you do not have pedals with toe brakes: Open the aircraft.cfg, go to the Contacts Points section. Swap contact point 0 as instructed. Then, add this to the Brakes section of the aircraft.cfg: differential_braking_scale = 1.0
  2. The upload package did not properly accommodate the starter energizer.sound. Go to SOH HERE and download the energizer.zip
  3. FSX: Tried to install in FSX and keep getting the following message:
The instruction "ox7c809783" referred "ox5bd0a24". The memory could not be read. Possible Solution: Try changing the panel.cfg by disabling gauge 49 in the virtual cockpit section, vcockpit01. Put // in front of this line as below.

    //gauge49=dsd_xml_sound3!dsd_xml_sound3,10,10,20,20, ./gauges/A26B_sound.cfg
  4. A-26C Glass Nose Version: Some video cards and FSX show the glass almost transparent. Download these two model only files to correct that. Unzip and replace the .mdl files in your a26c and a26cng folders. One Two
